Description

Despite the pulp fiction labelling, these are seriously made wines using the latest hands off approach and rendered beautifully drinkable with the flavours of real old time wines we knew back in the 1970's from Australia. Jen Gardiner grew up amongst the vines in her father's Adelaide Hills property and now she and her husband Col McBride are professors who teach at Roseworthy, the wine college in Adelaide University. Together with fellow punk Nic Bourke (whose phd was in wild yeasts) they make an innovative range, using very non-interventionist traditional winemaking. The Passion is from 76% Shiraz and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon and gives a mellow traditional style using only wild yeast fermentation.

Made by the trio of self-confessed Antipodean punks Jen Gardner, Col McBryde, Nic Bourke. Just 1500 cases made of this little gem which has a good dry grainy tannin to balance the lively blackcurrant fruit. Leather and cinnamon spice, with apple and blackberry crumble throwing the most on the nose. The tannins build across the palate, with taut quinces, blueberry and fine mint hangs through the centre. Cool for vegans and vegetarians.
