As part of our responsibility to the community and commitment to reducing our environmental footprint we identified two key areas of focus in 2020.
We taken delivery of a new Nissan zero emissions city van which we will use to deliver the majority of orders across Greater London in a bid to cut carbon emissions and enhance our level of personal service across the capital.
All deliveries outside of London are currently managed by our courier partner Parcelforce Worldwide who take their environmental and community responsibilities very seriously. They have a comprehensive programme of activities to reduce impact on the environment and invest in third-party environmental initiatives. All their operational and headquarter sites have achieved the ISO14001 standard.
Packaging
Local deliveries are packaged in reused boxes with minimal packaging. Local deliveries will arrive in our own electric van.
All courier orders are packed using Pulpsafe bottle packaging which offers the highest levels of protection for shipping your bottles with the greenest possible eco-credentials. Made in the UK, Pulpsafe packaging is recyclable, compostable and biodegrade. It can be placed in any household compost head and will biodegrade less than 6 months. Pulp is made by combining water and recycled paper and then moulded using wet pressing technology. The moulded pulp is then heated to give it strength and rigidity.
SuppliersWe actively seek out and favour working with producers who prioritise sustainability, particularly where we import wines directly. We work closely with our suppliers to raise awareness and actively promote sales of organic, biodynamic, vegan, vegetarian, and bee friendly wines both online and in store. We also prioritise supporting local producers like Blackbook Winery, Gypsy Hill Brewery and Far Reaches Gin.

Other sustainable practicesAs a part of a wider range of sustainable practices we actively discourage printing and the use of paper and rely on technology to communicate with our customers. Wherever possible our waste is recycled, and we look to purchase items that are recycled, ethical and sustainable and purchase only when necessary. We use reusable water bottles and wherever possible use local food suppliers in our Marylebone Enoteca. We have also moved our utility providers to green energy suppliers.
