Meerlust sit almost at the entrance to of the Polkadraai, on your way to one of the country’s most prestigious wine regions, Stellenbosch, like a giant sentry keeping guard at the gate, the estate has long been the barometer for quality in South Africa.
Sitting a stone throw from the False bay, the estate’s vineyards enjoy the spoils of the ocean, with cooling afternoon breezes slowing things down in the vineyard and in life in general, in true Cape style. Long recognized as producing world-class wines, the estate reminded us of its prowess with a couple of stunning vintages the 2015 and 2016 lauded by many as some of its finest to date. Dedication and focus on Bordeaux varietals, has enabled the estate to produce some of the most complex and truly distinctive wines from the Cape. Known for the majestic Rubicon and Meerlust red, the estate also boasts with a beautiful estate Chardonnay, which over the years has seen refinement and focus deliver a real masterclass in delicacy and power.
