Description

If there's been a revolution in Spanish winemaking, Dani Landi is one of the chief rebels. He made his name with Bodegas Jimenez Landi before setting out on his own projects, which include a series of terroir-expressive wines from old-vine Garnacha from small isolated vineyards perched high up in the Sierra de Gredos, southwest of Madrid.

This'village' wine called Uvas de la Ira (Grapes of Wrath!), in his signature style. The three parcels of vineyards are located near the village of El Real de San Vicente, planted on granite and sand soils at 750 to 800 metres above sea level. Vine age averages from 60 to 70 years. The climate here is Mediterranean with continental influences. This was aged for 10 months in French oak foudres.

'Uvas de Ira has been a favourite of mine for years. The 2022 vintage has a pale ruby red colour, and the nose is perfumed with fresh cherry and strawberry aromas. Medium body and rounded on the palate it is juicy, fragrant and layered with some white pepper. It has medium and rounded tannins and a medium, balanced acidity.'
