Description

Mark spent a decade working together with the late Dr. Bailey Carrodus of Yarra Yering in the Yarra Valley. His passion for making a wine that expresses the purity of the fruit and further reflects the soil they are grown in is what drew him to Burgundy. He makes wines that are bright and fresh and uses a ‘hands-off’ approach to create a pure expression of the terroir. 

Mark chooses parcels of vines which he selects based on the quality of the site, the rigour of the grower’s viticulture and the health of the fruit. He has built up trusted relationships with vignerons which allows him the choicest selection of their grapes and his own team of pickers ensure the fruit is harvested and transported speedily and in the best condition to the winery.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from several parcels. It offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, black olive and light tertiary scents on the nose. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crunchy red fruit, slightly chalky tannin with quite a precise saline finish. Excellent. Neal Martin, Vinous
