Château Ksara is the oldest wineries in Lebanon and from its beginning in 1857, quality wine production was their philosophy. They are traditional and continue their unique, century-old practice of winemaking whilst also implementing the latest and most innovative winemaking processes.
Their vineyards are located in the Bekaa Valley at an average altitude of 1,000 meters. The Bekaa has a semi-continental climate. The winters are cold with moderate rainfall and the summers are hot and dry. The altitude balances hot summer days with cool evenings with a temperature difference of around 15°C. The vineyards also benefit from the land’s own natural water table, which is situated between two snow-capped mountain ranges.
No pesticides and herbicides are used. The soil ranges from chalk, to clay and chalk, to clay and limestone, but it is always stony.
Reserve du Couvent Rouge was aged for 6 months in used French barriques.
'This is of bright ruby colour with purple highlights; The nose has intense raspberry and raspberry leaf aromas with fresh mint and herbs along with some ripe berry fruit. Hints of smoke and oriental spices along with leather make this an intriguing choice. On the palate it is medium bodied with fine, chalky tannins which give good structure to this juicy wine. A food wine which rewards decanting. Serve with grilled meats.'Philglas & Swiggot
