Pieter Walser is one of the most innovative winemakers globally and is the producer of some of SA’s most coveted wines that you’ve probably never tasted. Within BLANKbottle there are no 2 wines alike and about 30% of the wines are once-off limited editions. Pieter crafts unique wine blends, picking about 35 grape varieties from 60 vineyards around the Cape. Each of his wines is bottled and labelled according to the unique story behind it. The main aim of BLANKbottle wines is to provide an honest, personal taste with no preconceived expectations that come with certain vintages or styles.

The name is a reference to the beautiful old Cinsault vineyard where much of the fruit that goes into this wine is from. This wine was made for the first time in the vineyards 65th year after years of its fruit going to one of the larger local wineries. Having been formally 'retired' from service in its 63rd year, Pieter took his chance and snuck in. After several years of careful nursing and recuperation farming, here it is - Retirement @ 65. A Cinsault driven blend from Darling in the Western Cape. Very hands off winemaking - with small amounts of sulphur added just before bottling and a gentle 12% alcohol. This is perfumed and delicate with red berry fruit and red cherry blossom.
