The Domaine du Haut Perron has been passed on from father to son for more than 4 generations. Each has contributed to expanding it and improving the quality of its production. Until the 1950s Raymond Allion, cultivated the estate in polyculture like most farms in Touraine. A few hectares of vines, cereals, meadows to feed the horse and other farm animals. It was not until 1968 that father Guy decided to devote himself gradually to viticulture, and did so completly in 1991.
Located in the Touraine sub-region of the Loire valley, the soil here is rich in clay-limestone, and the excellent micro climate of the Cher river valley is favourable for viticulture. Sauvignon Blanc is king of their white wines, and the Domaine's reds are made from Gamay, Pinot Noir and some Malbec.
'This has a vibrant bright ruby red colour. The nose offers crunchy red fruit such as red sourcherries, cranberries and plums, along with a chalky minerality as well as a whif of mint and raspberry leaf. The palate is dry, medium-bodied and has medium fine tannins. This is an easy-drinking, well-made good value Pinot.'
