Agostino Vicentini and his son Emanuele operate in the hills of Soave. It is here that they carry on the tradition started by Agostino’s father, a tradition that extends four generations. The timeless enthusiasm and vitality has allowed them to achieve continued success in producing award winning wines.Idea Bacco is made in the Amarone style and method, that is, setting aside grapes after harvest to dry on racks for several months. During this time they lose as much as 40% of their weight in water, meawhile concentrating the flavours and sugars. However, the Agostino winery is based in Soave and not in Valpolicella so legally they cannot label this wine Amarone - meaning that we have an absolute bargain wine here for those in the know.
After drying, the grapes are fermented to dryness and matured in large tonneau (900L barrels) for around 18 months. This has lovely depth and a great combination of dark chocolate, spice and dark red fruits while the tannins are soft and gently drying. A great combination of power and elegance this would be a great wine to have at home for the coming cooler months. Overall this has the glossy feel of many Amarone but is fresh, dry and much more elegant. A great year-round wine.
