What better way to get into the festive spirit than to start with a glass of the exquisite Classic Cuvée from Ambriel, a family run vineyard overlooking the South Downs. Next up we travel across to South America to enjoy an amazing new wave Chilean blend which is made in as traditional a style as it gets: fermentation in cement, ageing in old oak or clay amphorae, no fining nor filtration, and no additions of any type, including sulphites. With the starter, one of our favourite wines the outstanding 'Louro' from Rafael Palacios, a blindingly delicious, textural white from Galacia and follow this up with our red wine of the year, the awesome 'Optima' from South African superstar Anthonij Rupert. With the main, we couldn't resist keeping it in the family and have included Alavaro's Priorat Garnacha based classic 'Camins' which offers a gorgeous ripe blueberry, fig, and blackcurrant fruit accented by notes of dark roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate. To finish off we had to include a dessert wine and for those of you who don't like anything too sweet, the delicate and fresh style of Muscat de Beaumes from the Rhone valley is the perfect conclusion.
