The charming Jean-Baptiste took owver this domaine in 2000 and he owns 8.5 hectares of vineyards across three of Rully's 1er Crus - Molesme, Montpalais, and La Fosse. In addition he also farms 2.8 hectares in the En Bas de Vauvry Monopole.
Everything is farmed organic and as closely in harmony with nature as possible. Grapes are hand-harvested, no chemicals are used and only natural yeasts are employed in the cellar. After a brief cold-settling, the grapes for 'Montpalais' go into a variety of oak barrels, 20% of which are new.
The family have owned the 1er Cru Montpalais, which is slightly bigger than 1 hectare, since 1952, and it was planted with Chardonnay in 1954 by Jean-Baptiste's father and grandfather.
Like all of Jean-Baptiste's wines this is pure, and layered with a complexity that - if it were tasted blind - would possibly suggest a more famous appellation in the Côte de Beaune.
