Alongside Leoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton, the Barton family are also proud owners of Chateau Mauvesin-Barton in Moulis
This a beautifully easy drinking, Merlot-led luncheon claret in the elegant, digeste style for which Barton is a byword.
The vineyard is situated in the "Moulis-en-Médoc" appellation, to the north of Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Gironde estuary. Part of the soil is clay-gravel, perfectly adapted for the development of Cabernet-Franc and Merlot. Another part is made up of fine gravel and gritty sand, allowing the Cabernet Sauvignon to reach full ripeness. As for all the Barton family activities, great importance is attached to environmental protection and the quality of the wines produced. The 46 hectares of vines comprise 54% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Franc.
Brilliant ruby red with an expressive bouquet of red fruit. A bright attack, intensely fruity, with an ample palate, dense body and great length.
16.5pts. Very neat and polished without being at all forced. Classic stuff - Barton Lite-ish. Very nice top-quality oak influence and a bone-dry finish. Lots of energy here. Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com
