Description

Côteaux de l’Aubance takes its name from the tributary of the Loire river, Aubance. It is situated south of the town of Angers and directly north of Côteaux du Layon. In the late summer the morning mist from the Aubance tributary infects the grapes with noble rot making some of the finest sweet wines in the Loire.

Lebretons' property has three parcels of land from which they make their extraordinary wines, and Les Trois Schistes is a blend of all three.

'This has a medium amber colour; the nose is complex and enticing with ripe red apples, ginger and honey, hints of bayleaf and nougat. This is sweet and beautifully balanced with good acidity. Ripe apple, honey, hints of vanilla and ginger spice mingle on the palate and go on and on. I think this is versatile, not only to go with apple pies, but also with some Terrine starters, a very delicious sweet wine!' Philglas & Swiggot
