The Colonge family have a long history of wine making in Fleurie, which dates back to 1789. Today the estate comprises 37 hectares divided between 4 appellations: Fleurie, Brouilly, Beaujolais-Villages and Beaujolais. In Fleurie they have 7.3 hectares on south facing slopes.
This is fermented by semi-carbonic maceration, often used by quality producers in the region, which combines whole bunch fermentation with traditional fermentation. Maceration lasts around 10 days. This allows the wine to get the tannic structure required for ageing, and this can be cellared for 5 to 6 years.
This is a beautifully perfumed wine with ripe raspberry, red cherry and strawberry flavours, as well as subtle aroma of purple flowers. Tannins are smooth and silky on the palate.
