'New London Light’ (NLL) is a critically acclaimed, bold and refreshing non-alcoholic spirit with an outstanding spectrum of flavour. With its delicious full body, complex layers and thirst-quenching zest, NLL is making waves in the low and no space as it looks to set a new standard in taste.
Named after an iconic lighthouse marking the entrance to the best deep-water harbour in Long Island Sound, ‘New London Light’ was once a beacon for the crews of 19th century Salcombe Fruit Schooners trading cargoes of exotic fruits and spices with the new world of the Americas.
NLL is crafted by first distilling a combination of following core botanicals: rich Macedonian juniper berries, zesty ginger, orris root and warm habanero capsicum, to create a full-bodied base spirit. The base liquid is carefully blended with 15 further hand-picked botanicals including orange, sage, cardamom, cascarilla bark and lemongrass; creating a complex and layered spectrum of flavour with thirst quenching hints of citrus orange and sage. This is combined with distilled purified water and stabiliser (potassium sorbate) before being bottled. No sulphur is used as a preservative. The base is distilled to a point where there is less than 0.4% abv. The final alcoholic percentage is around 0.4%, which can legally be classed as non-alcoholic. For example, a slice of bread or cup of cranberry juice can contain around 0.5% of alcohol! This is a non alcoholic spirit inspired by gin.
'A blend of bright orange citrus, aromatic cardamom and herbaceous rosemary and sage on the nose. Followed by an aromatic and warming balance of juniper, ginger and habanero capsicum on the palate with fragrant bitterness from sage and cascarilla bark. The finish is long and smooth with sweet orange and star anise, lengthened with floral coriander and lemongrass.'
Best served over ice with a premium light tonic water and garnished with a slice of orange and a sage leaf which brings out the ginger and sage component even more.
