Producer: Bodega Tandem - Joint venture Rós Rosé
Winemaker: Elicia Eyaralar & Lynne Coyle MW
Region: Yerri Valley, Navarra
Country: Spain
Rós Rosé is made on an artisanal scale by Lynne Coyle MW and Bodega Tandem in Navarra, Spain. The Garnacha grapes grow in sustainably farmed vineyards in the cooler Yerri Valley close to the Pyrenees and the Atlantic Ocean. After hand-picking and a short skin maceration, the grapes are fermented using wild vineyard yeasts and a minimal intervention regime follows in the winery.
"Rós Rosé is food friendly, dry, crisp, and elegant with summery red fruits notes of raspberry and strawberry and a refreshing lingering finish" Lynne Coyle MW
Bodega Tandem was founded in 2003 by Alicia Eyaralar, José María Fraile and a small group of wine-loving friends. The winery is situated in the Yerri Valley in the northern Spanish region of Navarra.
The Yerri Valley enjoys a continental climate with cold winters and hot, dry summers. Temperatures during the growing season are tempered by cooling breezes off the nearby Bay of Biscay and altitude up to 600m. This local microclimate gives cooler nights and encourages the unirrigated grapes to ripen gracefully, retaining acidity and freshness.
Winemaker Elicia Eyaralar uses traditional, minimum intervention winemaking techniques in the modern boutique winery. The tanks are gravity fed and the wines undergo minimum filtration to give the best expression of the grapes. Stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels are used for winemaking and maturation.
