Philglas & Swiggot Named London Flagship Stockist for Antinori Wines

Philglas & Swiggot is thrilled to announce its new role as the official London flagship stores for Marchesi Antinori, the most famous name in Italian wine. The influence of Piero Antinori in the last 25 years has been nothing short of revolutionary and this exclusive partnership brings a selection of iconic wines, including Tignanello and Stag’s Leap into the award-winning Philglas & Swiggot range.

      Explore the full range below.

      Castello della Sala Estate, Umbria

The Antinori family purchased Castello della Sala, a medieval castle located in Umbria, in 1940 with the idea of adding white wines from the Orvieto appellation to their range.

A young Renzo Cotarella (today Antinori’s CEO and chief winemaker) arrived to manage the estate in the ‘70s: after visiting Burgundy, he was impressed by the quality and the ageing potential of their wines and he went back to Umbria with the ambitious plan to produce a high quality Chardonnay. In 1987 the first vintage (1985) of Cervaro della Sala was released in small quantities and today’s is one of the most sought after Italian white wines in the world.

The estate is now fully dedicated to the production of wines made with international varieties, with one Orvieto in the range being the only exception.
