We've always loved the whites wines from Vincenti Agostino but in years past I have been less convinced by the reds, and in each of our recent trips to Italy we have declined to take them on but always giving feedback. Well this year there has been a huge jump in quality, and the wines show more clarity and brightness of fruit than any time in their past so we are delighted to bring them back to Philglas & Swiggot after an absence of more than 3 years.
The Superiore is a more powerful red than the basic Valpolicella, made from partially dried grapes and a richly ripe vintage in 2015. This has more body and weight with darker fruits, notes of bitter chocolate and 13.5% alcohol. This is the finest Valpolicella Superiore from Agostino I have tasted.
