We sell a lot of different wines, and it can be difficult to decide what to buy in a range with so much choice. Most start at a simple fork in the road - red or white, full-bodied or not, a gift for me... or someone else. Choosing something familiar feels safer than something of which you've never heard. Our mood, the time of year and the type of occasion are often key considerations in how we choose what wine to drink. Sometimes fear plays a role - we worry what others will think about what we've chosen. But let's start talking about you.
At Philglas & Swiggot our focus is great quality wine at any price point. But how do you know where to explore if you don't know from you're starting? We want to make it easier for you to make the right choice of wine for you, so you discover the world of wine through your eyes as well as ours.
Tune My Palate works like this.
First of all it's free. We run it twice per month in both our Battersea and Marylebone stores.
You taste some wines and answer some questions. The wines are tasted blind, meaning you don't know what they are. It's not a test - we just want to know what you like when all of your expectations are stripped away. The questions are about things you like and your behaviours of flavour. We then analyse the results and give you some ideas about the sorts of wines we think you like, and others similar to it that you may also enjoy. Then the fun part begins. You tell us how much you would like to spend and we will put together a case of 6 wines for you to try.
