Feudo di Mezzo is the largest and lowest altitude Cru on Mt Etna, loaded with 50-80 year old vines planted in black volcanic ash and basaltic pebbles at an altitude of 600m. Its complex and varied character draws comparison most readily with the Clos de Vougeot, the parcel for this wine coming from its best parcel - the Quadro della Rose. As a result this is the first plot harvested and the outcome is a sensuous, silky wine full of cedar and spice, and dusky autumnal notes of poached strawberries and dried herbs. Of all the Etna red Cru wines this is the most approachable as a young wine with fine, silty tannins, yet despite this it ages seamlessly. Debonair. We have a tiny allocation of this rare wine.
