Description

From its humble beginnings as a hobby farm, Stonier’s story begins with Brian Stonier, who was one of the first vignerons in the Mornington Peninsula. He planted Chardonnay in 1978, while his kids were surfing at the local beach. This viticultural hobby grew to become a great love for Brian, and in honour of his other great love, Champagne, he planted Pinot Noir in 1982. Stonier and the Mornington Peninsula have subsequently built their world-renowned reputation on these two varieties, as the region’s cool maritime climate makes for the perfect canvas to bring these varieties to life. Stonier is one of Australia’s leading producers of premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir crafted from a selection of the Mornington Peninsula’s oldest vines. Each wine showcases the region's cool maritime climate and the winery's unique southerly position on the edge of Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. The foundation of Stonier's success is built upon the cultivation of these two cool-climate varieties and our dedication to the practice of viticulture and winemaking.

This wine will challenge your preconceptions about Aussie reds. A fantastic Pinot from the Mornington Peninsula, one of the coolest and trendiest areas in Victoria. The cooling ocean influence guarantees freshness of fruit in the vineyards. Bright and aromatic, this is a delicious, juicy and fragrant red with layers of red cherry, dark chocolate & a touch of herb. Fresh and savoury it has the perfect balance between fruit, tannins and acidity, making it a perfect match with roast duck in plum sauce. Surprisingly Burgundian in style.
