The Scarbolo estate in Lauzacco is located only 15 km from the Italian border with Slovenia. Seven separate vineyards, comprising 30 hectares, are planted to traditional Friulian varieties — Friulano (formerly Tocai Friulano), Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Grigio.
The 'Lara Sunscent' comes from a single vineyard, planted in 1993, which was the same year that Valter's (proprietor) daughter Lara was born. After a short period of skin contact, the wine is pressed off into small oak barrels, where it completes fermentation and ages on the lees for 6 months.
Golden yellow in colour with aromas of ripe peach and fresh grapefruit with a hint of vanilla. A beautiful individualistic wine, which shows great tension and balance, brought by the short period of skin maceration, prior to pressing. A wine to keep an eye on for the future.
