The brain child of three friends who met whilst working at Williams-Selyem and started their own venture in 2004, making eight-and-a-half barrels of wine their first year at Anthill Farms. Today, they make eight single-vineyard Pinots and two appellation wines every year; depending on the vintage, they’ll also produce two or three Syrahs and a Chardonnay.

Most of their exciting production is sold via their mailing list, and a small amount is sold to restaurants and exported to spread the love.

Hawk Hill vineyard is located above the town of Freestone, and perched on a steep, Goldridge soil covered slope just a few miles from the Pacific. Shaped by the coastal climate, this low yielding vineyard is farmed by the Yarak family. The two decades old vines work late into the autumn to ripen and develop detailed flavours in its tiny berries.

'This is of bright medium ruby colour, has a subtle and very pleasant reduction on the nose, red cherries and red plums, baking spice and fragrant herbs & flowers; palate is absolutely alluring! Medium body, acidity and tannin, which is ripe and round, yet elegantly structured. This is an outstanding wine - love it!.' Anja Breit, Philglas & Swiggot

'The 2018 Pinot Noir Hawk Hill Vineyard is the second iteration of this single-vineyard cuvée, which was made with 25% new French and Austrian oak and 50% whole clusters. Medium ruby-purple, it offers gorgeous aromas of charcuterie, rhubarb, blackberries and aniseed with loads of earthy accents in the undercurrent and top notes of potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied and über satiny with slowly blossoming flavor layers. It walks a beautiful line between concentration of flavor and a light-footed frame, and it finishes very long with addicting juiciness and nuance. Wow!' 95pts, Erin Brooks,
