Description

Caruso & Minini is a joint venture between two families and two different stories that merge when Stefano Caruso, the third generation of winemakers, meets Mario Minini, owner of a marketing company in Northern Italy. Together, back in 2004, they built the foundations of Caruso & Minini, a state of the art winery in Marsala, a city at the extreme part of western Sicily.

Today Stefano is flanked by his two daughters Giovanna and Rosanna who are actively taking part in the daily work at the winery. Management in pink that has brought a breath of freshness among the barrels.

The family were early pioneers of instigating organic practices and now own two significant vineyards in Giumarella and Cutaja covering a total of 120 hectares located in the inland Trapani province. The highest hills, dedicated to the cultivation of the whites varieties, reach an altitude of 450 meters above sea level, whereas the valley bottom is where the red varieties grow. Every single grapevine was planted following the best combination of exposure, soil and climate.

Carefully picked up by hand. Maceration and fermentation of the destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature of 25°C for 15-20 days. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then agend 50% in barrels of 225 lt for 2 months, the remaining 50% in stainless steel tanks. followed by 2 months in the bottle.

Nero d'Avola is a widely planted native grape which in the best sites, is fruity and vibrant with a delicious balance of soft tannins and a harmonic finish. This organic example is exceptional and delivers a huge bang for your buck.

Great with grilled meat and mature cheeses.
