Description

A great value new addition to our Southern French range. The St Martin Côtes du Roussillon Villages vineyard is located between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. It runs along the Agly Valley, bordered on one side by the chain of the Pyrenees and on the other by that of the Corbières. Facing Mount Canigou, which offers breathtaking views, the vines cling to terraces with schist, limestone, gneiss or granite soils. Here, everything is a contrast between altitude and vertiginous slopes, delivering wines with very pure, mineral flavours.

Côtes du Roussillon Villages is an appellation for dry red wines from the Roussillon wine region of southern France. It represents wines which are a step up in quality from the more generic Côtes du Roussillon appellation. The grapes most used in Côtes du Roussillon Villages wine are Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. The title covers an area in the hillier northern third of Roussillon, immediately south of the Languedoc appellations Fitou and Corbières. The southern border was formed largely by the Têt River which runs neatly from west to east to the coast via Perpignan. Four villages within this zone are permitted to add their name to Côtes du Roussillon Villages wine labels: Caramany, Latour de France, Lesquerde, Tautavel.

This wine is produced from equal parts Grenache & Syrah from high altitude slopes located in Latour de France. Very sustained garnet colour. A fresh and mineral wine with a nose dominated by warm spices (cinnamon, star anise), notes of blond tobacco and leather. Clean, fresh & pure fruit with a very attractive luscious, creamy undercurrent. Elegant & refined.
