Kistler built their reputation on their absolutely outstanding Chardonnays, however they also produce delicious Pinot! Two heritage selections of Pinot Noir are used to produce all of thei Pinot Noirs. Originally hailing from a Grand Cru vineyard in Burgundy, Kistler have been propagating these two selections for the last twenty-five years. They are very low yielding, resulting in wines with a natural density and concentration of flavour, balanced by elegant natural acids and elevated aromatics.
The Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir has a bright ruby red colour. Fruit aromas in this bottling are more subdued with hints of white cherries and strawberries. There is a savory component to this wine on the palate. Nuances of dry green herbs and black olives combine with a layered red fruit profile. There is a freshness in the finish reflecting the wines vibrant natural acidity. This wine will age and develop for 5-7 years.
'Our goal in crafting our Pinot Noirs is to capture the elusive Pinot character expressed in each of our exceptional coastal sites. We strive to produce elegant, harmonious wines which are impressive for their purity, balance, and lingering perfume. From these sites there is a progression of color and length of character as we move towards the coast.' – Steve Kistler
