Château de Ciffre is a magnificent Chateau at the crossroads of 3 exceptional terroirs. This 70 hectare-Estate, 33 of which are vineyards, is the only winery in the region growing AOP Faugères (PDO), AOP Saint Chinian (PDO) and AOP Languedoc (PDO) together. It was certified organic in 2019 after a conversion started in 2015.

This vineyard is located in an unusual geological spot between schist terroirs and chalky clay soils at the foot of Mount Caroux and the Parc Regional du Haut Languedoc (a protected regional natural park). This variety of terroirs, the steepness of parcels and the altitude of the Estate combined with its unique exposure and the variety of grapes enable Château de Ciffre to beautifully express the three terroirs.

The Lésineau family fully renovated the Estate in 1992. Tranquil and remote, comprising scrublands, olive trees, vineyards and mountains, this Estate was taken over in 2007 by Nicolas and Miren de Lorgeril. Since then, they have strived to have the Estate soar to the summits. In 2010, Château de Ciffre was awarded with the Decanter Regional Trophy for the best Languedoc Wines. It has rounded off the diversity of terroirs worked by Maison Lorgeril.

A blend of Grenache and Syrah. Dark in colour, powerful, intense nose, dominated by stewed black fruits. Notes of roasting, havana and cocoa supported by a dash of pepper. Ample, fleshy mouth, very ripe tannins, fresh with a very long finish. Nice presence in the mouth.

A multi award winning wine which consistently punches well above its weight: Silver Medal Macon 2018, Silver Medal Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2018, 14.5/20 + Favorite on the RVF guide (Revue du Vin de France) 2019, Medal, Silver AWC Vienna 2017, Gold Medal Gilbert & Gaillard 2017, GOLD Medal at the Prix Plaisir Bettane & Desseauve 2017 competition .

This current vintage also secured a Special recommendation from Tim Atkin MW, head of judges at the TOP 100 competition
