Ivan Sutherland's Dog Point vineyard in Marlborough has been the source of much of the grapes under contract to Cloudy Bay. By the time Ivan hit his 50s, he and winemaker James Healy decided it was time for a sea change and make wine from the family vineyard. They now make one of New Zealand's finest Sauvignon Blancs.
Very slightly reductive, struck-match nose and extra-bright fruit with strong passionfruit aromas and a certain amount of delicacy. Chalky finish. Lots of interest here. Very youthful and energetic indeed.
