One of the most delightful discoveries of the past year for us. David and Katherine De Sante farm a rare vineyard in southern Napa that is a field blend (many different grape varieties randomly interplanted) of rare white varieties, the known ones of which are Green Hungarian, Golden Chasselas, Sauvignon Vert (Fruiliano) along with Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, planted over a period from 50-90 years ago and which has been farmed organically since the beginning. Weighing in at a rare 12.0% alcohol this is fresh, bright and weirdly full of ripe yellow fruits. A complex, salivatingly delicious wine that gets better in the glass as it unfolds with lemon, organs zest and fresh almond. Exotic and exciting.
