An under-the-radar producer of well-priced white burgundy, located in the illustrious village of Chassagne, in the southern Côte de Beaune. The estate is owned by Phillippe Duvernay and his partner Laura Coffinet who set out on their winemaking venture with just seven vineyards, including the Grand Cru Batard Montrachet. The estate encompasses seven hectares across the appellation in total, four of which are dedicated to its outstanding white wines..
Philippe Duvernay and his son Bastian eschew the fashion for reduction or as they refer to it, ‘modern techniques’ favouring a more traditional approach.
The 2020 is beautifully expressive in a classic Chassagne style, rich with a creamy texture and underlying freshness.
This is a very serious producer and the prices are so much more attractive than those of many of their neighbours. Jancis Robinson MW.
