Matetic vineyards embody the pioneering spirit and vision of modern Chilean winemaking. This biodynamic project was founded in 1999 by the Matetic family, originally Croatian settlers who arrived in Chilean Patagonia in 1892. Having established themselves as farmers with extensive landholdings, the fourth generation of the family turned their attention to grapes. Confident of the attributes of the climate and soils in the coastal El Rosario Valley of San Antonio, they planted 120 hectares of vines, and now farm 160 hectares of coastal biodynamic vineyard.
'EQ' stands for equilibrio, the Spanish for balance; these wines are elegant, complex, multi-layered, and will age gracefully over many years.
'This biodynamic certified Chardonnay is of bright pale straw yellow colour; On the nose citrus and stone fruit are balanced with cloves, nutmeg and pepper. The palate is savoury and medium bodied with melted butter, subtle spices, along with peach, pear & red and yellow apple. Oak is present but integrated, rounded. Creamy.'
