Aurélien has been tending these vines and making the wine since 2009. He is responsible for a little more than 0.30 hectares of this top 1er Cru – a 1er Cru that often produces what many believe to be a ‘classic’ style of Vosne-Romanée. Beautifully fragrant offering floral and cerise fruit notes with fine dexterity. Fresh, precise with wonderfully etched tannins, this elegant 1er Cru is framed with creamy, silken tannins and energised by a tight mineral core. One to keep and enjoy in 4-5 years’ time and onwards. Wonderful wine, a darker focus than the Boudots with black cherry fruits, and then lustrous tannins glowing in the toasty frame of a whisper of new oak. This is much more open and wide ranging than previous wines. Compelling. Justin Knock MW
