Established in 1903 Estate Argyros is run by Matthew Argyros, 4th generation of winemakers.
Based in Episkopi Santorini, the winery owns 120ha of vineyards with ungrafted -original rootstock - phylloxera safe plants averaging 70 years old, including some of the oldest vines on the island which are over 200 years old.
Our philosophy is to craft outstanding boutique wines based only on the indigenous varieties of Santorini and mostly with Assyrtiko.
Atlantis is the entry-level wine for Argyros Estate that has only just entered the UK market. It's a blend of 90% Assyrtiko and 10% of Athiri and Aidani which bring a little more perfume to the wine. While its not labelled as Santorini it is fact made from 100% Santorini grown grapes. Its great to have a more affordably Santorini white espcially as the best wines become more expensive thanks to massive demand which is driving up grape prices right across the island.
The dominant Assyrtiko grape, into the blend of the Atlantis White, is ennobled with a small proportion of Aidani and Athiri, to balance the acidity with the fruit.
Great with fish and seafood, pasta and poultry. Light yellow color, with vibrant aromas of citrus fruits, lemon blossom and delicate notes of exotic fruits. Light body, good balance in the mouth thanks to the wine’s acidity and minerality with a pleasant tingling aftertaste.
The fermentation is done only in stainless steel vats.
