Description

The talented Nikos Karatzas studied in Bordeaux then became chief winemaker at a very young age at the high-profile Pavlidis winery, also in Drama, Macedonia, before setting up his own project in 2015 for which he finds the best vines in Greece's best sites.

Aplá white is a blend of three indigenous Greek grape varieties, Malagousia, Assyrtiko and Roditis and was fermented in stainless steel tanks and amphore before being aged for four months on its fine lees before bottling.

'This is pale golden with a little bit of spritz in the glass when the bottle was first opened. Semi-aromatic with white rose and yellow blossom; fresh juicy peach, yellow apple, lychee and there is also a subtle pine needle element, but fear not, it is nothing like a Retsina! Dry and crisp on the palate with a refreshing acidity, there is a light skin contact texture here. Guave, underripe mango, peach and apricot - this has plenty of blossom and fine herbs such as watercress. Perfect for seafood or vegetable starters this finsihes tart and leaves your mouth watering.'Anja Breit, Philglas & Swiggot
