Bindi 'Original Vineyard' Pinot Noir 2014

The Bindi property was originally part of the Bundaleer homestead purchased by Keith and Thea King (Dixon) in 1956. The original planting of vines, in 1988, saw Chardonnay and Pinot Noir replace sheep as the focus for Bindi. The timber milling days of the King family gave way to nurturing vines as well as diversification into farm forestry and the preservation of rare grass and woodlands.
This has become known for its signature perfumed bouquet and silky, pure palate. This quartz riddled, gently north sloping three acre vineyard produces very fine, spicy, fragrant wine that has high natural acidity and develops beautifully given 6-10 years careful cellaring. As it ages the depth of aroma increases in and the palate becomes increasingly harmonious and is characterized by a sweet fruited, textured flourish. In comparison to the Block Five this wine is more seductive and delicious in its youth whilst still significantly rewarding cellar time. The grapes are 80% destemmed and crushed. The wine spends 15-17 months in French barrels of which about 25% are new.

 

The perfume and red fruit delicacy of this vineyard is evident and the subtle, elegant layers of complexity that give this wine its intrigue are very stimulating for mind. The palate is a delight for its accessible supple and seductive fruit however the savory, mineral.
