The Conterno family has been making wine in Monforte since the 1700s. Aldo passed away in 2011 and the estate is now manged by this three sons Stefano, Franco and Giacomo. Whilst most famous for their Baroli, this glorious Chardonnay from Poderi Aldo Conterno is also one of Italy's finest, capturing the bold power of ripe Chardonnay. Golden yellow in colour, this is a rich wine that remains balanced and elegant with a hint of honey and buttery vanilla. Fruit and oak marry perfectly, with the texture and acidity underpinning the refined, mineral character of the wine, leaving the palate fresh. The wine finishes on a long, flavourful note. If you like Chardonnay from Leeuwin Estate, Ramey or classic Meursaults then you'll really enjoy this wine.
