Prager tasting with producer, Wednesday 5th February 2020
Weingut Prager, based in Austria's beautiful wine region on the banks of the Danube river, is run by husband and wife team Toni and Ilse Bodenstein. Their son Robert is becoming increasingly involved in the family business, and he will be here to take you through two incredible Grüner Veltliners and three Rieslings. These wines are impressively terroir driven, and this will be a fantastic opportunity to learn about how influential location is on the end result.
The Wachau is famous for its high quality and range of styles – from the delicate freshness of Federspiel, to the world-class Smaragd wines made from the warmest sites and the ripest grapes yielding some of the most incredibly complex, dry white wines on the planet.
Paired with this, as always, will be some fantastic cheeses from our friends Hamish Johnston, located at 48 Northcote Road:
Henschke tasting hosted by the winemaker - SOLD OUT
This is a pretty last minute, we know..
The event is taking place next week, on Thursday the 23rd January, but we could not pass up an opportunity like this, and we hope that some of you will feel the same way! We will have eight wines to taste with, as usual, some lovely cheeses to pair with them. What better way to support our friends!
Any money made on tickets will be donated to a wildlife rescue charity based in Australia, information about which we have provided below.
Come and try some fabulous simple dishes from our wonderful Northcote Rd neighbours Osteria Antica Bologna featuring white truffles flown in from Piedmont. This is a walk around tasting with some simple tasting plates for you to enjoy with wines from Piemonte - featuring the new vintages ofLuigi Pira and Francesco Boschis, plus others from Albino Rocca, Produttori del Barbaresco, Oddero and possibly the odd ringer from elsewhere in Italy.
