Philglas & Swiggot was founded in 1991 on Northcote Road in Battersea and subsequently expanded to add a further store & Enoteca in Marylebone and became one of London's most loved independent wine merchants.
In November 2018 O’Briens Wine purchased the business to begin a new chapter in its history. Founded as a family business in the 1940s and specializing in wine, beer and spirits since 1973 O’Briens has grown to 34 stores across the Republic of Ireland as well as 2 stores now in London (Battersea and Marylebone).
As part of our exciting growth plans, we are currently looking to recruit a Delivery Driver/Fulfilment coordinator with an interest in premium wine retail based at our store in Northcote Road, Battersea.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a full UK driving license, strong initiative, and a desire to help grow the business as part of a dynamic team. They should have a keen interest in wine and a desire to develop their knowledge. Experience working in the London retail environment is preferable. You will have the opportunity to work with an experienced and talented team with access to some of the world’s best wines and discerning customers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a pro-active and driven candidate with a focus on the many small details that go into retail sales success. The role is offered on a full-time basis.
Logistics & fulfilment planning
Undertaking customer deliveries in our own vehicle
Managing order completion & customer communication via our fulfilment platform
Exceed customer expectations through ascertaining their needs using open questions and actively listening
Work as part of a team to create a positive and motivated atmosphere
Assist in-store as required and develop an understanding of our product range and service offering
Ability to work flexible hours both during the day, evenings and on weekends, and overtime on occasions as required
QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
Educated to A Level (or equivalent) or above
Experience working in a retail environment
Full UK driving license
IT skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and Online
WSET qualification a bonus but not necessary
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Exceptional levels of customers service
Passion for and willingness to learn about wine
Self-starter with an ability to attain targets and overcome all realistic objectives
Constantly strives for high standards and consistently achieves them
Ability to work on their own and within a small team
Punctual and dedicated with excellent time management skills
Able to lift and carry and use stairs on a daily basis
PROBATION & REMUNERATION
The Delivery Driver/Sales Assistant role will be offered on a full-time basis and involves regular weekend shifts over a 40-hour week with an initial 3-month probation period. The annual remuneration will be competitively matched with commensurate experience.
