In the westernmost corner of the Franconian wine region (officially called Franken) the Fürst Family have been making wine since 1638. In 1979 Paul and Monika Fürst built the new estate amidst the vineyards and in 2007 their son Sebastian joined to help manage the property.
Facing due south the 11 hectare Centgrafenberg vineyard is home to most of the vines. The Pinots and Riesling especially love the warm and iron rich soils formed by the weathering of red sandstone.
The quality and struture of the wines is ensured by minimal intervention in the vineyards, reduced yields and in the cellar the white wines are pressed gently, fermented and aged in both barrels and stainless steel tanks for 6 - 12 months.
Lowtech vinification assures each wine gets the necessary time to develop.
The wine itself consists of a very fine mineral scent, rich fruit with incredible expressiveness and a wonderful finesse on the palate. The wine is bone-dry, but has an air of delicate sweetness from the ripe fruits. Ultimately a Riesling of absolute world class.
