A bright purity of fruit shows itself in the wines of Rainer Wess, who has been making wine from his new, trendy winery on the outskirts of the town Krems for five vintages now. An impressive building where glass and steel have been interlaid in a traditional structure, echoing the stylishly clean yet authentic wines that he makes. Grapes are largely bought from seven different growers with whom he has been working for ten years.
Coming from Austria's Kremstal region, from vines that are between 35 and 40 years old, this dry Riesling offers up intense aromatic notes of stone fruit, honey, flowers and spice. If blind tasted, it would not be unusual to confuse this one with the aromatic intensity of a Gewurztraminer. This fruit forward and aromatic Riesling is a great choice for spicy foods like Thai or Indian cuisine.
