Mackmyra Grönt te (Green tea) is an elegant, Swedish single malt whisky matured mainly in exoloroso casks, finished for 19 months in casks that previously held our own green tea liqueur. We created this using some of the finest vintage tea leaves from Japan. Grönt te is one of our most innovative finishes to date.
In spring 2019, we celebrated Mackmyra’s 20th year. This coincided with an honourable award for our master Blender Angela D'Orazio, who was elected into Whisky Magazine's prestigious Hall of Fame. She is now an official ‘Whisky Legend’.
To celebrate this, Angela was given free rein with this new Seasonal to incorporate one of her own personal indulges: green tea from Japan. Mackmyra Grönt te is a tribute to Angela, inspired by two of her great passions in life; travelling to new cultures, and bringing whisky and innovative combinations of flavours and senses to life.
The result is an aromatic and floral whisky with fine fruit and vanilla, green herb notes, light spiciness and green apple.

Yame Sencha – A rich, soft and sweet green tea with a deep taste, from the 1st harvest of the year in Hoshino, Fukuoka.
Yame Gyokuro – An elegant and sophisticated tea, with lots of sweetness and Umami, also from the 1 st harvest, Fukuoka.
Kaoribo Hojicha – Nutty, round and delicate, with roasted tea leafes from the 1st harvest, Shizuoka.
Yame Matcha Shinobi – A rich green tea, made for tasty matcha teas, for cooking and baking, from Hoshino, Fukuoka.

NOSE: Spicy, floral, red berries and fruits with notes of green tea, white pepper and roasted vanilla. Dried grapes, citrus, pear and forest berries.
TASTE: Fruity and floral finish with fine vanilla, herbal green tea notes, green apples and finishing with a light spiciness.
AFTERTASTE: Spicy, fruity with herbal green tea leaves and rich vanilla.
