Dominique Lafon has a stellar reputation for his great winemaking, as well as sublime vineyards. Three generations ago, domaine founder Jules Lafon assembled significant holdings at the heart of the very best sites of Meursault and Volnay.
His white wines are generally rich and plush, coming from late-harvested, low-yielding Meursault vines. The typical, prolonged barrel-maturation creates creamy, lees-rich wine with remarkable ageing potential.
'Malolactic fermentation finished in August. From a second-year barrel. Already bitter cherries on the nose and lots of lovely fruit on the palate. Bittersweet. Chewy end. Bright and promising. This tastes like a Volnay-Santenots rather than like a 2012!' 17.5 pts, Jancis Robinson
