Sourced exclusively from the ‘En Lutenière’ vineyard located within the boundaries of Vosne-Romanée but just outside the line for the full appellation rights. Immediately expressive, offering a medley of ripe red summer fruits intermingled with floral tones. Elegant tannins add to the undoubted appeal of this delightfully early drinking Bourgogne Rouge. Drink from late 2018
Aurélien’s own Domaine comprises almost 4.5 hectares of Hautes Côtes de Nuits, and in 2009 he took over vines under a farming agreement in Vosne-Romanée village and 1er cru Beaux Monts as well as Nuits St Georges 1ers crus Damodes and Boudots. This entitled him to declare them as Domaine holdings and his total under vines in the Hautes Côtes has since been extended to almost 6 hectares. Aurélien’s purpose-built, modern cellar is located in the sleepy village of Arcenant in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits less than 10 kilometres west of Nuits St Georges.
He supplements his range through grape contracts which are tended organically but are not certified. Fruit is harvested manually and all the cuvées are vinified with indigenous yeasts and only minimal sulphur. Aurélien rarely exceeds 25% new oak for the wines’ barrel maturation. His wines marry floral elegance and finesse with finely-wrought tannins.
Note: Thanks to Alex Tilling for this lovely photo with Aurelien.
