Massif d'Uchaux is still fairly unheard of, as it is a quite recent appellation in the southern Rhône valley, located not too far from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In style is is not million miles away from one either!
Isabelle and Arnaud Guicharde make this full-bodied Rhône red on the unique sandstone soils of the Massif D'Uchaux near Mondragon. The estate is certified organic since 2008 and Biodynamic since 2013. Made from two-thirds Grenache and one-third Syrah, the Cuvée Genest shows intriguing floral aromas of red-currant and blackberry, musk and black pepper. There is cool stylish fruit on the palate - blackberry with hints of prune, blueberry and Provencal spices. The finish is long with earthy red fruits and plenty of meathy, black pepper spice. This is a great value in a complex, balanced Rhône red that is delicious now.
