Blanchard & Lurton is the result of a collaboration between white wine pioneers Andrés Blanchard and François Lurton. Founded in 2014 with the sole purpose of producing white wines, the pair have used this project to harness thier intrigue a sparsely used grape variety: Tokai.
Beating against the current, the pair founded the first Argentine winery to produce exclusively white wine in their endeavour to prove that Argentina can produce complex white wines capable of competing against the best wines in the world. Drawing inspiration from the concept of a Bordeaux blend and applying it to Argentine white wine production, the pair created their 'Grand Vin' composed predominantly of Tokai (Sauvignon Vert) with the addition of Viognier, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and sometimes Sauvignon Blanc, the weighting of the blend varying from vintage to vintage.
An unusual white blend, the Blanchard y Lurton Grand Vin is an intensely aromatic wine with great complexity on the nose. The peach and apricot notes of viognier blend with notes of gooseberry and citrus fruits. On the palate, the first impression is of sweet, ripe fruit immediately followed by freshness, minerality and a lovely grip and texture.
