“If I had to choose one wine to show how great dry German Riesling can be I would choose a Keller Riesling. Those wines are the German Montrachets” – Jancis Robinson, 2008
Now Jancis may have been talking about Keller's Grosses Gewächs Rieslings in this quote but the pedigree is there and attention to detail is meticulous for every wine they produce.
Klaus Peter Keller and his family have certainly earnt their reputation at the top of dry German Riesling with a their unique limestone based vineyards in and around the town of Flörsheim-Dalsheim and Westhofen, in Germany’s Rheinhessen wine region.
The Riesling trocken is beautifully scented and quite pronounced. You'll detect the gentle white flowers, passionfruit and grapefruit before you get anywhere near the glass. Very zesty with a racy acidity and the body, whilist light, does reflect some riper fruits this vintage like peach, apple and pear. A recent discovery was pairing this up with a delicious hot chicken curry and it was fantastic!
